This is by far the worst job i've ever had. The supervisors love to micromanage. Seniority is definitely non-existent and people will get ahead of you if the next person that gets hired is a friend of the superviror. They treat you unfairly and will only do what's best for them. Management does not back you up when there is a need for it. It is a relaxed environment, all departments interact with each other which makes it feel like an extended family. On the casino side, it is a VERY poorly managed property! Literally have leaking ceilings and MOLD in the walls! Most people working the front lines are friendly and helpful. There is medical ins but it would be expensive were it not for most departments being unionized. No matter how well your job performance. A LOT of favoritism. Contras Lacks in communication. Working at Gulfstream Park is a good job and a nice place to work in. The co workers are friendly and we all work together as a team. I do enjoy the environment we work in. Was the front line communication staff for the horse track. Met with customers as the first line of communication for products and services rendered. As an accountant I needed to have Checks and Balances at the end of the day but it was very difficult for me to accomplish that. I took it as an experience. At gulfstream racing and casino there is plenty of opportunity for growth its a very fun and fast paced environment very good benefits and competitive pay. Pros: beautiful property focused in expanding in all areas of family entertainment. Good place to network and build relationships. Has many possibilities to transfer without having to leave company. Cons: Employee turnover due to inexperience and unethical people in management roles not all just a couple which can affect your growth and work culture. I enjoyed my time here even though it was short lived the surroundings around is amazing. The culture, and the people that I worked with was a joy to listen to what they do each and everyday. The casino is underfunded, however it has now been bought by Genting so this may change. While I was there, the building and facilities needed maintenance and repairs that the corporate management did not want to invest. All attention and funding was given to racing. What an experience! Working at casino was a good environment for me because I love the Hospitality industry and the casino is a perfect place to have this kind of atmosphere. Work day would consist of assisting all guest with their casino needs and also conducting daily casino promotions throughout the facility. While working here I've learned a lot of "casino" culture. Dealing with promotions, give away, tournaments, cash prizes, etc.. The hardest part of the job for me was going home. I love working in the casino so much that I wouldn't mind living there. Management here was ok. Wasn't really involved behind the scene with them often but could tell they had a good sense of management. My enjoyment simply was interacting with our daily, repeat and new guests. Always good to meet people. Pros Meet new people. Contras can begin to gamble.
